If your patients have been referred to you by another clinician (or if you're writing referral letters for your patients to see another specialist), Cliniko can help you easily keep on top of things and simplify the referral process from start to finish!
Note that this guide is about handling patient referrals from/for other doctors or third parties. It is not about tracking referral sources for marketing purposes. If that's what you're looking for, head over here!
First things first, you'll want to add any referrers (whether they're doctors, third-party payers, or someone else) as a contact into your account. Once you've done that, check out the details below π on all things referrals!
Referring doctors
If a GP (or anyone!) referred a patient to you, you'll be able to "assign" that person to your patient. This will make it easy to grab details on who the referring doctor is, and also communicate with that person right from Cliniko.
Other third parties
Sometimes you might have a "non-doctor" individual (or company) that you need to communicate with. For example, this might be an insurance company that you're billing on behalf of a patient. You can include their information in Cliniko so that it's readily available need be!
Patient cases
Cliniko can help you keep track of referrals with patient cases, too. While not every case might come from a referral, for those that do, you can can track which doctor it came from, how long it's eligible for, and even how many treatments have been completed.
General patient information
If you're working with a referral and need to grab specific information about a patient, there are some tools that will help with this!
While the above is an overview, if you have any specific questions, our support team is here to help! π€
