Once you've recorded a payment for a patient, you can email them a receipt for it in just a couple of clicks. This is separate from emailing an invoice — an invoice shows what's owed, while a payment receipt confirms what's actually been paid.
This guide is for sending payment receipts manually to a patient. If you have online payments enabled and want these to go out automatically, here's how to enable that: Automatically email online payment receipts
Email a payment receipt
Head to the Payments section, or find the payment from within the patient's profile:
Open the payment you'd like to send a receipt for, then click Email patient at the top right:
You'll see a confirmation pop up on the bottom right. The patient will receive an email with their receipt, and you'll be able to see a record of it in their communications log:
What if I don't see that "Email other" button?
If that button isn't showing up, and you're confident that the patient has a third-party email address listed in their details, your account may have a restriction in place that prevents emailing financial information directly from Cliniko.
To confirm this, it would be best to check with the owner of your account, as they'll be able to double-check whether that restriction is turned on.
If you'd like to send a summary of several payments in one email, try creating an account statement instead. Additionally, here's how you can send a payment receipt to a third party.
