If you're in Australia, you probably know all about Medicare and Private Health Insurance! You're able to process Medicare claims and health fund claims through Cliniko via a program called Tyro Health (formerly Medipass). While we're not directly related to them, we've worked closely with them to allow for Cliniko to connect to Medicare and HealthPoint.
Below, we'll walk you through the steps to get your Cliniko account connected to Tyro Health:
(Note that you will need to have an existing Tyro Health account—if you don't, you can sign up here.) If you have questions about anything Tyro Health-related, they have a support site which we recommend checking out!
As Tyro Health is a separate company, they do have their own fees. Learn more here.
Integrate Cliniko with Tyro Health
As mentioned, you'll first need to connect Cliniko to your Tyro Health account. To do this, head to Settings, and then Integrations:
Look for the Tyro Health section (it'll be towards the top of the page):
Once there, you'll be able to actually set up the integration—more on that below! 👇
Understanding the Tyro Health integration
The Tyro Health API key: The API key is a 32 character string that you get from Tyro Health. If you need help finding yours, they have a handy guide for you how to set up your Cliniko integration.
The Tyro Health payment allocation: This is how payments from Tyro Health will be recorded in Cliniko. It affects how payments show up on invoices and reports. You can select any payment allocation type that is right for you. If you'd like to allocate Tyro Health payments to "Medicare", as per the screenshot below, you will need to add "Medicare" as a payment type. Learn how to add a new payment type here. Please note that the payment allocation fields for "Health fund" and "Credit card" are mandatory; the integration won't work unless you've set those.
Once you've completed your changes, click Save Tyro Health settings.
Adding Tyro Health provider numbers
If you have entered any provider numbers in Tyro Health, you'll need to also be sure to enter them into Cliniko in order for the integration to work properly. To do that, head into your user settings and enter those numbers exactly as you have entered them into Tyro Health (so that they match), as in the example below.
Having your provider numbers in both Cliniko and Tyro Health will ensure that you can have a seamless experience when using both programs! If you're not sure how to enter your provider numbers into Tyro Health, you can follow their guide here.
Once you're integrated with Tyro Health, you'll be able to process health fund claims, process bulk bill claims for Medicare, and process patient claims for Medicare.
