As Cliniko continues to be developed, its capabilities will eventually surpass what older browsers are able to do. Keeping your browser up to date ensures Cliniko is working at it's best and keeps you protected. It's similar to fortifying the digital walls of your clinic, ensuring the utmost security for your valuable patient data against cyber threats.

Staying current with browser updates also allows you to have enhanced browser performance, smoother navigation, and reduced compatibility issues. Essentially, unlocking access to the latest features — giving your clinic the ability to operate at its full potential!

If your browser is too out of date when visiting Cliniko, you'll see the following:

Why should I update my browser?

Keeping your browser up to date is absolutely crucial for the performance and security of your Cliniko account and patient data. Updated browsers ensure compatibility with the latest web technologies and standards. Additionally, browser updates often include patches for security vulnerabilities, safeguarding your sensitive patient data from potential cyber threats such as malware, phishing attacks, and data breaches.

Additional benefits:

  1. Safeguarding against potential threats: by keeping your browser up to date, you're essentially reinforcing the protective barriers shielding your sensitive information from cyber threats. Think of it as updating and securing the doors to your digital clinic—regular browser updates serve as essential security patches, which ensures that Cliniko remains confidential, compliant, and secure.

  2. Boosting performance: Outdated browsers can hinder your experience with Cliniko. Including slow load times and clunky UI. By embracing the latest browser updates, you'll see faster load times, smoother transitions, and enhanced responsiveness.

  3. Compatibility: With each browser update comes a plethora of enhancements, optimizations, and compatibility fixes. By keeping your browser up to date, your devices will have the latest web standards and technologies, enabling effortless compatibility with Cliniko. More importantly any updates, bug fixes, or new features that we release in Cliniko will work and display as intended 👀.

Overall, by staying current with browser updates, you not only ensure smooth operation of your Cliniko account but also reduce your security risks — protecting the integrity and confidentiality of your clinic's information 🎉!

Updating Google Chrome

Updates to Google Chrome usually happen automatically when you close and reopen your computer's browser. But if you haven't closed your browser in a while, you may need to manually check and update your browser:

  1. On your computer, open Chrome if it isn't already.

  2. At the top right, click More (indicated by 3 vertical dots).

  3. Select Update Google Chrome (if you don't see this option, you're on the latest version).

  4. Click Relaunch.

Updating Firefox

Updates to Firefox usually happen automatically when you close and reopen your computer's browser. But if you haven't closed your browser in a while, you may need to manually check and update your browser:

  1. On your computer, open Firefox if it isn't already.

  2. Within the menu bar, click the "Firefox" menu and select "About Firefox".

  3. The About Firefox window will open. Firefox will begin checking for updates and downloading them automatically.

  4. When the updates are ready to be installed, click Restart to update Firefox.

Updating Safari

For Mac computers, the Safari web browser is typically installed and updated as part of your macOS.

If you are unsure what version of macOS you're using, you can confirm the device model and release date by selecting the Apple icon in the Mac menu and About this Mac:

You'll also see your macOS version listed.

To keep Safari up to date for the version of macOS you're using, use Software Update

However, if you do not see an option to update your macOS, you can also download a more recent version if your device does not support the latest operating system. Apple has a guide available with links to download different OS versions.

Updating Edge

Updates to Edge usually happen automatically when Windows 10 is updated. So to keep Edge up to date, you need to keep your Windows 10 installation up to date.

To update Windows 10:

  1. Click the Start button

  2. Click Settings

  3. Select "Updates & Security

  4. Click "Windows Update"

  5. Click "Check for updates"

  6. When the update is installed you will get the latest version of Edge.

If your browser isn't listed above, that doesn't mean it's not supported by Cliniko! If you see a warning about your current browser and no additional updates are available to your browser, though, we recommend downloading an alternative browser (our current favorite is Google Chrome).
