Whether you’re closing your practice, switching systems, or taking extended leave, you can cancel your Cliniko subscription at any time.
Cancellation is immediate, so it’s important to understand what happens next and how to make sure you have everything you need before proceeding.
What happens when you cancel your account
Cancelling your Cliniko subscription takes effect straight away. Your paid access ends immediately, even if you still have time left in your billing cycle. There’s no notice period, and we don’t issue refunds for cancellations partway through a cycle.
Once cancelled, your account enters a limited-access, read-only state. You won’t be able to use your calendar, patient list, treatment notes, or other day-to-day features. The sidebar will be limited to the dashboard, settings, and help. We recommend cancelling only when you’re completely done using the account.
Only administrators can log into a cancelled Cliniko account in this limited-access state. All other users will lose access.
Don't worry though, your data is still securely stored. Cliniko keeps your account data for at least one year after cancellation. Even though the account is cancelled, you can log in during this period to export your data as well as to reactivate the account. We recommend running all necessary exports so you have your own copies to meet any regulatory requirements.
Taking extended leave
Cliniko doesn’t currently have a built-in pause or hold option. If you’re taking maternity leave, a sabbatical, or temporarily closing your clinic, the best approach is to cancel your subscription.
If you plan to return, you can simply log in and reactivate your subscription anytime within the data-retention period. Reactivating your subscription lets you pick up right where you left off, with full access restored.
How to cancel your subscription
An administrator can go to Settings → Our clinic → Cliniko subscription:
Review the details of what happens when you cancel, and then click Cancel Cliniko subscription:
Select the reason you’re cancelling from the list of options. We use this information to improve Cliniko. When you're ready, click Confirm cancellation:
The page will refresh and the subscription status will appear as Canceled:
Your account will now be in a limited-access state, and no further charges will be applied. The credit/debit card saved on file will automatically be removed.
As an admin, you have the ability to cancel or reactivate the subscription directly from your account. If you need help along the way, our support team is ready to assist. 💬
