Cliniko offers email and SMS notifications to help practitioners stay on top of new appointments and online bookings, whether they’re created directly within your account or through your online bookings page.
This guide will explain:
Important notification details
Whether you're a solo practitioner or part of a team, being notified of new online bookings can be super useful (especially if you don't want to have to check your calendar all the time!). Here are some important details to note about Cliniko notifications:
Only practitioners can be notified of any new appointment bookings. Administrative staff (like receptionists or bookkeepers) cannot be notified.
Ensure that the practitioner's email address is functioning correctly, with no inbox or filter issues that may block our emails.
If SMS notifications are selected, ensure your Cliniko account has SMS credits, and that the practitioner has a valid mobile number listed in their user settings.
Practitioners will only receive notifications for bookings made by another user or by patients. They will not receive notifications for appointments they book themselves.
Get notified of new internal bookings
This is a practitioner-specific setting. It is not global, and will need to be set up for each individual practitioner.
Head into your practitioner settings. If you're a practitioner, you can access your settings by clicking on My info under your name:
If you're an administrator, you can set this up for practitioners by heading to Settings, and then Users & practitioners:
You'll then want to edit your (or the other user's) settings:
Once you're in the practitioner settings area, scroll down to Calendar booking notifications:
From here, you can select whether you'd like to be notified by email, SMS, both, or none, and you can specify the timeframe.
Update your settings, and you'll be all set! 🙌
Get notified of new online bookings
This is a global setting that affects all practitioners on the account. Enabling or disabling online booking notifications will turn this on or off for every practitioner.
Head to Settings, and then Online bookings:
Under Booking notifications, select the type of notifications you'd like your practitioners to receive:
Save your settings, and you're all set!
If you'd also like practitioners to be notified of cancelled appointments, you can enable that, as well! Head on over here to learn how.
