If you set up two-factor authentication (2FA) for your Cliniko account, you'll be requested to enter a unique code each time you login from a browser or device we don't recognize. However using the "keep me logged in on this device" option, it'll change how 2FA works and we won’t ask for 2FA codes again for 30 days.

This guide will break-down how the "keep me logged in" option works and how to reset:

Keep me logged in setting

To prevent 2FA from being requested, you’ll want to make sure you’re ticking the “Keep me logged in on this device” when you’re asked for your 2FA verification code:

🚨 If you do not see the verification code step during login, and you've enabled 2FA, this means you may have already ticked the "keep me logged in on this device" option at some point in the last 30 days.

Once you tick the “Keep me logged in on this device” box while signing in, we won’t ask for 2FA codes again for 30 days.

This change should help make your sign-in process a bit faster, but there are a few things to keep in mind:

  • This will only work if you’re using the same browser on the same device, and haven’t cleared your browsing history. So, for example—let’s say you use Chrome on a Mac. If you tick “Keep me logged in on this device” and always use Chrome on that same Mac, you won’t need to enter 2FA codes again for 30 days. However, if you clear your history in Chrome, that “resets” everything, and you’ll need to re-enter your 2FA code.

  • If you use a different browser on that same device, you’ll also need to enter your 2FA codes (at least, the first time you log in), because the “keep me logged in” function isn’t shared between browsers. So, for example, while you might be kept logged in and remembered on Chrome, you won’t be remembered in Safari, so you’ll need to re-enter your 2FA code.

  • If you reset your Cliniko password, all remembered devices and browsers will be forgotten. So, you’d need to log in to Cliniko again, tick “Keep me logged in on this device”, and enter your 2FA code. This would then keep you “remembered” again for 30 days.

How to reset the keep me logged in setting

If you clear out your cookies on your browser, we will request the 2FA verification code again during login (as long as you do not tick the "keep me logged in on this device" box again).

If that doesn't work, check your 2FA settings within Cliniko to see if it's still enabled.

As always, let us know if you have any trouble with 2FA!
