If you need to use diagrams or charts when writing notes for your patients, we've got you covered. Our treatment note templates support body charts, which means that not only can you write text-based notes, but you can draw on diagrams using a stylus, your finger, or your mouse! Body charts will work on any device, as well!

In this article, we'll cover:

Before getting started, feel free to check out our video overview of how body charts work!

Read on for the details! πŸ™ŒΒ

Manage your collection of body charts

First things first, you'll want to get your body chart templates set up and see what you have on file. Head to Settings, and then Body chart templates:

You'll be presented with several default templates that we provide, but you can definitely upload your own!Β

The initial screen will look like this:

So, that's where your body charts "live". Next up, adding them to treatment note templates!

Add body charts to treatment note templates

The body charts themselves are handy, but in order to work, they need to be actually added to your treatment note templates.Β

Head to Settings, and then Treatment note templates:

Select the template you want to work with, or add a new one.

🚨 This next step is crucial to ensuring that you can use body charts when actually writing your notes!

In the Question field, make sure that the "type" is "Body Chart":

Do that for as many questions as you need, and then save your template!

Now you're ready to actually use those body charts in your notes!Β

Use body charts in treatment notes

Now that you've gotten your templates uploaded into Cliniko, and have also added "Body Chart" question type, you can use those charts in your notes and mark them up! πŸ™Œ ✍️

Write a treatment note for your patient. For any questions that have "Body Chart" as the question type, you'll see an Add body chart button. Click that button:

From there, you'll be prompted to choose the template you wish to use:

If you've already uploaded your own templates, you'll be able to select them from this page!

You'll see that Cliniko is loading the body chart:

When it loads, you'll now be able to mark up that chart to your heart's content!Β

Initially your screen will look something like this, with a blank template:

Now it's time to get marking! πŸ˜€You can select the colours you want to use, you can type, you can zoom in/out, erase things, and move your template around:

Press that Save button when you're all done!

You'll see that Cliniko is saving your body chart:

You'll then be brought back to the treatment note on the patient's profile. Once it loads, it'll look something like this:

You can add another body chart, or just keep typing the rest of your notes. When you're all done, be sure to save!Β

Once you save your note, you'll see the body chart:

πŸ™Œ All done! You've now added a body chart to your treatment notes!

You can also upload your own templates if you would like. You'll want to head back to where the body chart templates live, and click Add template:

Give your template a name, and click the Create template:

Your uploaded template will need to be a PNG or JPEG file.

We walk though the full process for that here!Β

As mentioned, body charts will work on any device, and you can use a stylus, your finger, or your mouse to mark them up.

Happy charting! πŸ“ˆ ✍️ πŸŽ‰
